Child safety

There is no version of this we tolerate. Material that sexually exploits a child has no place on nobodyreads.me, in any form, in any framing, public or paid, and there is no context in which we would host it. Accounts are terminated, not warned.

This is the one rule on this site with no judgement call attached to it. Everything else we host is subject to argument about tone, taste and where a line sits. This is not.

What this covers

It is a violation of this policy to publish, sell, link to, or use nobodyreads.me to solicit or distribute:

  • Any visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
  • Written material that sexualises a minor, including fiction. That we host mostly text does not create an exception; it is the reason this line is spelled out.
  • Material that sexualises a real, identifiable child, whether or not it is explicit — including ordinary photographs recaptioned or arranged to that end.
  • Content that grooms, solicits, or attempts to arrange contact with a child, or that offers to trade any of the above.
  • Links, references, or instructions pointing anywhere else that hosts it.

A minor means anyone under 18, regardless of the age of consent where the person publishing happens to live.

How we find it

Every post is screened when it is published, and every image when it is uploaded, automatically, against our content policy. Anything the screening flags is held for a person to look at, and material in this category is removed before that review rather than after it.

Screening is not the main thing, though, and we would rather say so than imply a machine has this covered. Reports from people are the fastest route we have — which is why the route below is as low-friction as we could make it: no account, no form, no explanation of who you are.

We also review accounts on our own initiative where something in how an account behaves warrants it, and we act on referrals from payment providers, hosting providers and law enforcement.

What happens when we find it

All of the following, not a selection from them:

  • The content comes down immediately, before any correspondence with the account holder and before any assessment of intent.
  • The account is terminated and the person behind it is barred from holding another. Where the same person holds other plots, those go too.
  • Payouts are frozen. Any money owed to that account stops moving while the matter is open, and money paid for the content is refunded to the reader.
  • Evidence is preserved — the material, the account records, and the access logs — and handed to law enforcement rather than deleted, even though our instinct is to erase it. Deleting it destroys the case.
  • We report it to the Danish police, and to the relevant national hotline and any provider whose service was also used.

We do this whether the content was free or paid, whether it had one reader or none, and whether or not the person who published it says it was a mistake.

Reporting it to us

Email abuse@nobodyreads.me with a link to the page and the words "child safety" somewhere in the subject line, so it jumps the queue. You do not need an account, you do not need to explain who you are, and you do not need to be sure — we would very much rather look at ten things that turn out to be nothing than miss one.

Please do not download, save, or forward the material itself.A link is all we need, and in most countries possessing it is an offence regardless of why you did it.

We aim to action reports of this kind within 24 hours, and in practice as soon as one of us reads it. Everything else in our inbox waits.

Reporting it to the authorities

You do not have to come to us first, and it does not have to be either one. In Denmark, report directly to the police at politi.dk or by calling 114. Outside Denmark, report to your own national police or to the child protection hotline in your country — most run one that takes anonymous reports.

If you report to the authorities and not to us, the material stays up until someone tells us it is there. Doing both is better than doing either.

No appeal

Terms of Use gives an account holder a route to contest a removal. It does not apply here. A termination under this policy is final, we do not restore the content or the account while we look into it, and we will not enter into correspondence about whether the material really counted. If we are wrong, we would rather be wrong this way.
